After reading three different texts, I’ve found multiple quotes that so happened to catch my eye. Due to the fact that these quotes were so appealing, I feel like maybe they should be shared; and could end up eye catching to someone else as well.
Teach Writing as a Process Not a Product (Don Murray) Quote #1: “He was a character, a giant, literally larger than life.” -Don Murray Quote #2: “You shall not look through my eyes either, nor take things from me, you shall listen to all sides and filter them from yourself.” - Walt Whitman, “Song of Myself” Quote #3: “We have to be quiet, to listen, to respond.” -Don Murray Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life (Anne Lamott) Quote #1: “You don’t have to see where you’re going, you don’t have to see your destination or everything you will pass along the way. You just have to see two or three feet ahead of you”. -Anne Lamott Quote #2: “The first draft is the child’s draft, where you let it all pour out and then let it romp all over the place, knowing that no one is going to see it and that you can shape it later.” -Anne Lamott Quote #3: “Quieting these voice is at least half the battle I fight daily.” -Anne Lamott The Daily Writing Routines of Great Writers (Maria Popova) Quote #1: “I never listen to music when I’m working. I haven’t that kind of attentiveness, and I wouldn’t like it at all.” -Maria Popova Quote #2: “Frankly I do feel that my mind is going.” -Maria Popova Quote #3: “I write in spurts. I write when I have to because the pressure builds up and I feel enough confidence that something has matured in my head and I can write it down.” -Maria Popova Synphany Quote #1: “You make think working last minute is ridiculous, however the pressure helps the thinking process.” -Synphany Borrero Quote #2: “Take a break. Don’t just sit there for hours draining yourself.” -Synphany Borrero Quote #3: “Think hard, but don’t think to hard. Thinking too hard might cause a writer’s block to occur.” -Synphany Borrero

I appreciate how this post explores metaphors of writing, the importance of writing in stages, and trusting the process of getting words on paper.
