I've never really been a person that took interest in documentaries. In my eyes documentaries were always boring, so I just never wanted to watch them. However, after watching documentary Where to Invade Next, I've come to realize maybe documentaries aren't as bad as I thought. Now I'll be honest, when I was preparing my self to watch the documentary, I was agitated thinking, "I gotta sit here and watch this two hour long boring documentary, Lord help me". However, the documentary turned out to be beyond good and interesting.
In the documentary Where to Invade Next, Michael Moore took it upon himself to visit various countries in Europe and North Africa to examine and assess the social and political values elsewhere, to gain ideas on how to fix America's social and political issues. Michael Moore visited Italy, where he was amazed at how workers were gifted with more than generous paid vacation time, along with a marvelous work life. Michael Moore visited France, where he got to see the the French children getting served full course meals for lunch in school compared to the trashy food that is served for lunch in America. While visiting Finland, Michael Moore discovers that Finland's secret to successful education is to not give out homework. While visiting Slovenia, Michael Moore discovers that Slovenia is tuition-free for college students. While visiting Portugal, Michael more experienced what it was like to be at a place where drugs there is a decriminalization of drugs. In Germany, Michael Moore learns that the German history is a big thing to the Germans, whereas in America, American history is overlooked because of it being "history". In Norway, Michael Moore learns that instead of punishing inmates, they prefer to rehabilitate inmates. Last but not least, while visiting Iceland and Tunisia, Michale Moore learns more about the important leadership role women play in the two countries. Michael Moore took an idea from each one of these countries to bring back to America, to help America be the American Dream.
